Corteza reaches Hope Open semis

LEE Vann Corteza of Davao City won all his matches in the loser's bracket to climb his way to the semifinals of the Hope P1-Million Billiardas Open II.

Alfready given up for dead after losing to reigning World Pool champ Alex Pagulayan, Corteza bundled out Gandy Valle, Jeffrey de Luna, Antonio Lining and Richard Aguilar.

The string of wins assured Corteza of a return grudge match with Pagulayan.

In the other semis duel, Efren "Bata" Reyes squares off with Francisco "Django" Bustamante.

Reyes booked a trip to the semifinals by stopping the giant-killing ways of Aguilar, 9-1.

Bustamante, meanwhile, ousted Antonio Gabica.
