Cops deployed around schools
By Joy G. Romares

SEVERAL policemen were deployed in the different public schools in Davao City Monday to ensure the students' security as classes started.

Police Senior Superintendent Catalino Cuy, Davao City police director, told Sun.Star Davao that the policemen were deployed early Monday morning.

"Meron tayong mga personnel in uniform and in plain clothes na naka-deploy na sa mga public schools early Monday morning na magbabantay dun," Cuy said.

Cuy said the deployment was coordinated with the school administration.

"'Di lang sa eskwelahn pati na rin sa mga sinehan, churches, because we are considering our current situation, nasa orange alert pa rin tayo," Cuy added. Cuy said that police are also getting assistance and support from the Traffic Management Group (TMC).

"Traffic policemen are visible sa mga intersections lalo na yung malalapit sa schools," Cuy said.

The same precautions will be taken next week as private schools open.

City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte has ordered tight police security for the school opening.

"As much as possible, I don't want any violence against the students," Duterte said on Friday during a command conference with Cuy.
