Night classes mulled for public high schools
By Aurea A. Gerundio

THE Department of Education (DepEd) 11 plans to offer evening classes for public secondary schools for those that cannot possibly attend day school, Davao City Schools Division Superintendent Gloria P. Labor said Monday.

"We cannot yet ascertain the exact number of enrolled students because some are still enrolling even if classes already started Monday. The plan to implement evening classes is for those who cannot go to school in the daytime like, for example, the house helpers," Labor said.

Labor said their division is still conducting survey as to where the evening classes will be piloted.

Labor said the pilot area for evening classes would be where there are a number of students who want to enroll.

She said they initially planned to implement the evening classes at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) because the school is surrounded with different subdivisions.

"With the DCNHS, the principal suggested to have the classes on Saturdays. Pero wala pang finality on the matter kasi pag-uusapan pa," Labor said.
