Province strengthens health program amidst malaria scare
By Ben O. Tesiorna

THE Provincial Government of Compostela Valley had strengthened their anti-malaria campaign following concerns about this disease after three persons on a documentary film assignment in Palawan died because of it.

After their series of medical outreach programs, the Provincial Health Office conducted an anti-malaria campaign late last month in an effort to eradicate the incidence of malaria in their province.

The affair was attended by more than 40 doctors and other medical health practitioners of the province along with members of the National Commission on Indigenous People.

Representatives from the Global Fund also attended the event. Global Fund is an international organization whose main concern is the eradication of malaria incidence worldwide.

It can be recalled that in 2000 Compostela Valley was among the province with the highest incidence of malaria infection in the country.

Recently though, the province was no longer in the list of the twenty provinces with high incidence of malaria infection.

Compostela Valley Governor Jose Caballero said this is an indication that their health programs are effective.
