Davao's Valle eyes RP Open

GANDY Valle of Davao City shifts his focus to the Philippine 9-Ball Open on June 25 to 30 after a semi-finals finish in the final leg of the San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour at the Robinson's Galleria Trade Hall over the weekend.

Valle, who suffered a 7-11 loss to Yang Ching Shun Sunday night, completed the four-leg Tour with a Singapore title to his credit.

Ronnie Alcano bested Yang for the crown and the $10,000 championship prize.

Alcano had earlier ousted compatriot Antonio Lining, 11-7, in the semis match of the cuefest organized by ESPN Star Sports and Puyat Sports.

Valle, a 1998 Bangkok Asian Games gold medalist, is assured of a slot in the 2006 World Pool Championship after pulling off a remarkable performance in the Tour.

Efren "Bata" Reyes was limited to one Tour title this year, which he won in Jakarta, Indonesia.
