Pacquiao still among world's best boxers
MANNY Pacquiao of the Philippines is still among the world's best boxers despite his loss to Erik Morales and the controversies surrounding his career.
In the latest rankings released by Ring Magazine on the best pound-for-pound fighters, Pacquiao is ranked Number 6 in the list, ahead of fellow feather and double-titlist Juan Manuel Marquez and junior welterweight Ricky Hatton.
Marquez is listed only at Number 7, while Hatton is ranked Number 8.
After losing to Morales last March, Pacquiao had filed charges against promoter Murad Muhammad and the question whether he will fight again this year remains to be answered.
Middleweight Bernard Hopkins is listed on top, with junior welterweight Floyd Mayweather and junior middleweight Winky Right at Numbers 2 and 3, respectively.
World Boxing Council super featherweight champ Marco Antonio Barrera, whom Pacquiao defeated in 2003, is occupying Number 4 in the list, while Erik Morales is at Number 5.
Completing the top 12 are lightweight Diego Corrales (9), light heavyweight Glen Johnson (10), light heavy Atonio Tarver (11) and lightweight Jose Luis Castillo. (CRAM)
