Rebels warn of more attacks to oust Arroyo from power

NATIONAL Democratic Front (NDF) spokesperson for Mindanao Jorge Madlos (also known as Ka Oris) vowed Friday to support the opposition in its attempt to oust President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from power.

"The revolutionary movement is ready to join hands with the opposition to oust President Arroyo from power based on the principle of sovereignty, democracy and justice," Madlos said in an interview aired over Super Radyo in Davao.

Madlos also called on all units of the New People's Army to launch attacks especially against targets that would help oust Arroyo from power.

"Enough of the US-Arroyo regime!" Madlos said.

He however said this does not mean they will be conducting general offensive attacks and said that they will keep up the fight as long as Arroyo remains in power.

He also said in the recent clashes against the government troops all over the country, they have gained advantage as there are more casualties from the government side.

He said reported casualties from the military side reached 120 in three months.

Madlos also believes Arroyo cheated in the last elections. "Under the Arroyo administration, the Philippines joined the ranks of the most corrupt countries in the world," he claimed.

"She opened the floodgates to more human rights abuses that have surpassed the previous regimes. This is a testament to the regime's failure to respect even its own constitution," he added, citing the acts of intimidation and harassment allegedly conducted by the military troops in the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley and Davao del Sur recently.(RCB)
