Stores near gas stations warned anew vs selling liquors
OWNERS and operators of stores near gasoline stations were warned anew against allowing people to drink intoxicating beverages in the area.
Business Bureau chief Erwin Alparaque said his office has received reports that some people are again having drinking sessions near gasoline stations in violation of an existing ordinance.
"We already summoned the owners of stores located within the gasoline station premises regarding the matter," Alparaque said, adding, "they can sell liquor or other intoxicating beverages, but they should not allow the customers to stay in the premises and have drinking session there."
"Kapag may inuman, hindi rin maiwasan na may maninigarilyo kaya ipinagbabawal natin," he said.
Alparaque said the City Government is determined to prosecute violators of the ordinance.
"We will cancel their business permit if they will not comply. Matagal nang ipinagbawal ang inuman sa mga tindahan within the gasoline station premises. Specific naman sa business permit nila na retail lang ang allowed," Alparaque said.
Starmart owner Evelyn Abarquez said they are complying the directive of the city government with regards to selling of liquor and cigarette.
However, Abarquez said, they are sometimes having difficulty in forbidding customers to stay in the store premises.
"May mga customers din kasi na matitigas ang ulo. But we are monitoring on our part para maiwasan ang inuman dito. Nangyari na kasi dito na may nag-away dahil mga lasing na," Abarquez said. (AAG)
