Active chess at Gaisano
THE second leg of the Active Chess Classics unfolds at the Gaisano Mall of Davao at 10 a.m. Saturday.
At stake are cash prizes and Grand Finals berths for next year with the leg champion winning P2,000 while the runner-up will get P1,000 and P500 for the third placer.
The champion will earn Grand Prix points equal to the number of participants while the lowest placer will settle for one point. But he is allowed to win a championship once.
The top 16 Grand Prix pointers will enter the knockout system Grand Finals slated May 6 and 7, 2006 where a cash prize of P5,000, a trophy, a medal, a roundtrip Davao-Manila airfare and one day hotel accommodation await the grand champion.
Cash prizes will also go to the next four finishers. The first leg champion of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-sanctioned meet was Werner Priete. (MLS)
