PCAB-Davao issues 300 licenses to contractors
THE Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board in Davao Region is the best performing Pcab throughout the country, the Department of Trade and Industry 11 reported.
DTI 11 regional director Merly Cruz said Monday that as of last year, the Pcab in Region 11, which is housed at the DTI office in Monteverde-Sales Streets, had issued more than 300 licenses for contractors, 80 percent of the total number of contractors operating in the region.
"All the others are just between 40 to 60 percent in terms of accomplishment rate," she said.
Pcab has been releasing licenses in the region for five years already. And since then, Cruz said, the number of people processing their licenses with them has steadily been increasing.
"During our first year, we only had less than 100 applicants maybe because the contractors in the region had no knowledge yet na meron na pala tayong Pcab dito. It's a big help considering that if you are going to get your license in Manila, you have to pay P10,000 for the plane alone, less to mention the fee for the license. Whereas here, you just have to pay less than P5,000 and you will not be even exposed to metrpolis hazards," she said. (JMM)
