Serrano rolls 871, grabs bowlfest lead
BUSINESSMAN Romy Serrano struck for a total of 871 pinfalls after four games to pace the Datba June Monthly Medal Open Handicap Qualifying Tournament at B3 Center of NCCC Mall.
Serrano, who averaged 217.75, bested Arthur John Galendez and Dr. Billy Magdale who amassed 866 and 853 for second and third place, respectively.
Trailing behind were Ian Ancheta (844), Froi Balagtas (843), Vic Te (838), Charlie Cutler (828), Manny Nierra (823), Art Galendez (812), William Lam (806), Phil John Trinidad (803) and Richard Arigo (797).
The top 12 qualifiers will play a 12-game series elimination round that started June 14 and will end on July 14 to determine the final four who will play the up-the-ladder championship round.
A cash prize of P10,000 awaits the champion while P7,000, P5,000 and P3,000 will go to the next three finishers in the meet organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association.
Special prizes will also go to the top qualifier, top finisher in the elimination round, highest singles-scratch and highest single with handicap.
Meanwhile, Datba will also conduct an inter-company tenpin bowling tournament and a double mixed class tournament in July and August as part of the Kadayawan
