Tax bureau conducts massive info drive on receipts
BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) District Officer Evelyn Sardido said a massive campaign relative to strict compliance on the issuance of official receipts or sales invoices is being undertaken by BIR-RDO.
Stickers are being posted in business establishments, hospitals, clinics, and stores to remind end-users to ask for a sales invoice for any amount of purchase they made.
Failure to issue official receipts penalizes a violator or business establishment of P10,000, a possible closure of their business with imprisonment as provided by law, RDO Sardido said during a regular "BIR Ug Ikaw" radio forum aired over dxRP Radyo ng Bayan.
"We are urging the public to demand for an official receipt for any purchase they made, and remember that an order slip or delivery receipt is not an official receipt," she said.
For those establishments using automated machine receipt, kinahanglan adunay nakapastel sa in front sa machine nga "This machine is Authorized to issue OR" ug kon adunay nakasulat nga "Warning: This Machine is Not Authorized to issue OR" kinahanglan mo-demand ang consumer ug OR, she explained.
If there are words written as "Warning" in front of these machines, this means that said machines are being used for internal purposes only, she added.
Under Revenue Memorandum Order 56-2000, all business establishments are required to issue sales invoices, otherwise penalties or probable closure of their business will be imposed.
BIR-RDO's tax campaign has been going on with the support of the local government units for added tax collections and investments for our country, she said.
Our massive tax education drive aims to instill in the minds of the public that correct payment of taxes due the government will in return, go back to them in terms of the provision of their basic needs and services in the form of infrastructure, health, alleviate their lives, shelter and give them a decent living, she said.
