Ultimate solution provider powered by innovation
By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza

E-BUSINESS is one aspect of Wednesday's enterprise that is being considered a must. Companies, big and small, are putting premium on this aspect.

If a company has an Internet connection, as what most people say, it has a better edge over its competitors since its owners would have the capability to do on-line transactions. Thus, an increase in market share and competitiveness is being achieved.

Cognizant of this development, Hubport Interactive, Incorporated is now paving the way towards IT (information technology) connectivity among various enterprises, local and abroad.

Among the services being offered by HPI are web development, software development, e-mail set up, audiovisual presentation, video editing, IT marketing and consultation, interactive CD development, and 3D animation.

Company Profile

Hubport Interactive is a Davao-grown company that started in 1998. It was first known as Communications.

But during that time, Chito Marco Lucero and Rachel Rivera-Lucero (who were not yet married that time and just graduated from college) were not into internet services and network solutions yet. They were selling cell phones and computer units instead.

In 2001, the number of Internet cafes in the city had been constantly increasing, month after month.

"With this situation, we saw the need of giving these Internet cafes a hand to set up their business. So, we helped them out in setting up their Internet cafes. In doing that, our network (of contacts) grew.

We got contacts from schools for their hardware development," Chito said.

A year after, the Internet industry of the city beefed up further. The need of a service provider that specializes in hardware development sprouted.

"During that time, nakipag-tie up kami ni Rachel with his brother and my brother who are website developers based in Manila. In Davao, we gave justifiable reasons to SMEs (small and medium enterprises) why they should have a website. We introduced to them the benefits of having a website of their own, how it could help them augment their income and number of clients," he said.

In 2003, the Hubport Interactive, Incorporated was born. This time, the line of service that it offers to companies in the city has extended to system development.

Chito attributed the lofty success of the company to the way they handle their clients.

"We don't stop on just developing their website. Even after we developed their website, we still offer them with free consultancy. Ang sa amin kasi, reputation and relationship with clients must be on top all the time. We value them as our partners and not just mere clients. And syempre, we offer everything to God," he said.

To date, HPI is already a leader in all facets of Internet and intranet services and network solutions to large corporations, small companies, individuals, and community as a whole.

What started as a web developing company, with an aim of promoting the Philippines in the World Wide Web, is now one of the fastest growing firms engaged into network solutions system and multimedia production design in the country or even in the world.

HPI is now handling the website development of around 50 companies in the local market that include the giants in the real estate industry such as the Uraya Land, Crown Asia, and Monteritz.

HPI is even the one that designed the official website of the city. As what HPI's mission statement says, it is firmly committed to sealing its status as a progressive leader in the IT business community.

"Of course, whatever the breakthrough in IT that we are going to discover, we are more than willing to offer and share those technologies to companies here especially to SMEs," he said.

Chito added that HPI, along with its employees and officers, vow "to provide superior and dynamically marketable services and to optimize the business opportunity by establishing a standard of service and support unparalleled in the field."

HPI now has marketing offices in the United States, London, and Thailand to help the company market its services as well as the Philippines.

The IT industry at present

Chito, who is the IT committee head of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporation and vice president of the Association of Solution Integrators in Davao (Asid), said that the city's IT industry today is slowly picking up.

"I have observed that customers right now are already the ones who are calling us unlike before na kami pa talaga ang tumatawag sa kanila para magtanong if they would like to experience our services. This only means that companies, especially SMEs, have already realized how important it is to IT-based. And that's a good sign of a growing IT industry," he said.

Despite the growth that HPI has reaped, Chito still does not consider his company as a successful one.

"We are still a growing company. And whatever it is that we have right now, we don't basically take pride of what we did. There is still a big room for growth," he said.
