Governance back to normal: Presidential adviser

THE administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo continues even after a blow-by-blow attack of the opposition last week.

Speaking during the Mindanao Scope Tuesday aired over dxRP Radyo ng Bayan Davao, Presidential Adviser for Mindanao Affairs Jesus Dureza said the tension felt in Malacañang over the weekend has calmed down.

"Governance goes back to normal after an immeasurable damage done by important personalities in the government," Dureza said.

He was referring to the move of the seven members of the cabinet calling for the president's resignation.

"They have brought the government to a brink. Malapit na tayo sa cliff," Dureza said adding that these members of the cabinet should have remained supportive to the president especially in a situation where a lot of people wanted to destabilize the government.

He said the president has temporarily appointed persons to take over the vacated seats of these secretaries.

"All of us were called to resign but the president asked some of the members to stay. I don't know if she would replace some of the secretaries. It would not matter to us. Lalo pa at marami pa ang magagaling na dapat rin bigyan ng pagkakataon manilbihan sa bayan," he added.

Dureza said the president would be appointing permanent cabinet members soon. "The people should join the president in maintaining focus in governance," Dureza said.

He reminded the civil society that political groups calling for the resignation of the President would never be stopped especially with the country's democratic state. However, he calls the people to respect and abide by the constitution for the recovery of Philippine governance. (PIA)
