Mayor explains crisis to village officials
MAYOR Rodrigo R. Duterte Tuesday met with close to 2,000 barangay and Youth Council officials at the Grand Men Seng Hotel to apprise them of the political crisis the country is going through.
"We have to counter the erroneous allegations being fed to the people," Duterte said.
With the many destabilization plots against the Arroyo administration and the series of rallies being done anywhere in the country, Duterte said somebody should explain something to the people to make them stand by the Constitution.
If there are grievances against the present administration, Duterte said, then due process must be followed.
Duterte said 90 percent of the barangay officials in the city expressed support to the Arroyo administration.
In the same meeting, Duterte repeated his threat that he will support a Mindanao independence movement if people in Manila will insist in ousting the President unconstitutionally.
Along with Duterte, Davao City first congressional district Representative Prospero Nograles also gave advice to the barangay officials saying Arroyo's resignation is not the solution to the country's problems.
He believes that everything would just become worse if Arroyo steps down or is ousted.
Nograles echoed Duterte's advise for the Dabawenyos not to get involved in the political brouhaha that is going on in Manila. (AAG)
