Football event to feature Davao City lady booters
EIGHT teams are entered in the 2005 Liga Dabaw Football Tournament second divisions slated to open on August 9 at the Tionko field in Agro compound.
Team Korea, Real El Solido Football Club (FC), Davao U-17 and Davao Ladies lead the cast of entries in the event organized by the Davao Football Association (DFA).
Joining them are the University of the Immaculate Conception, Fili-Chi FC, Lumads Nuevo FC and Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) High School.
Three games will usher the opener with UIC taking on Ateneo at 2 p.m. while the Lumads collide with Team Korea at 4 p.m. and Fil-Chi clash against Real El Solido at 6 p.m.
Only one game is featured on August 13. The Davao Ladies will test the mettle of Davao U-17.
Organizers said the second division was included in Liga Dabaw to provide a venue for football enthusiasts and forge camaraderie through fun and play.
"The tournament will also serve as a tune-up for the Davao Ladies team set to see action in the PFF Women's Senior Finals on August 16 to 22," a DFA statement said.
The national women's championship will be hosted by the City Government of Davao and supported by City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta. (MLS)
