PBA rookie draft ends Friday
LAST minute entries are expected to come in abundance as deadline for submission of entries for the 2005 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft comes to an end on Friday.
Aspirants still have three days to submit an authenticated copy of their birth certificates at the PBA office.
Traditionally held every January, the annual draft is slated August 14 at the Market Market in Taguig, marking the first time it is scheduled at mid-year following a change in the league's calendar of events.
Applicants aged 23 years old-and-above at the time the draft is held are eligible to apply, although players who are below the age limit but have graduated from college or are high school graduate in 2001 are also qualified.
Some of the finest players in the amateurs have already submitted their applications; among them include Anthony Washington, Mark Cardona, Cesar Catli, Jondan Salvador, Michael Holper, Mark Macapagal and Rommel Canaleta.
Washington is fresh from steering Welcoat Paints to the Philippine Basketball League's Unity Cup championship while Cardona and Jondan Salvador pride themselves at having won the PBL Most Valuable Player plum.
