Ateneo Davao graduate among TOSP '05

A RECENT graduate of the Ateneo de Davao University has been named as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) for 2005 by the RFM Foundation Inc.

This was found out by Sun.Star Davao from the alumni office of the ADDU.

Bryan M. Ty is BS Industrial Engineering summa cum laude graduate, class valedictorian, and leadership awardee.

Last March, Ty also topped this year's Bank of the Philippine Islands-Department of Science and Technology Science Awards.

The TOSP program was launched on June 19, 1961 on the 100th birthday of the national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

It was held continuously until martial law was declared in 1972. The program resumed in 1991.

TOSP is a project of the RFM Foundation, the Commission on Higher Education, RFM Corporation in cooperation with National Book Store and the Rotary Club of Makati Central.

Among the objectives of the annual search for the TOSP is to give due recognition to students who can be held as role models for others, students who exemplify academic excellence, exemplary leadership, good moral values, and determination to serve the country.

The other 2005 TOSP are Mehlan R. Josol, magna cum laude graduate of BS in Agriculture at University of Southern Mindanao in Panabo City; Jeffrey P. Mora, magna cum laude graduate of BS in Chemistry of the Far Eastern University; Joseph Patrick Echevarria, magna cum laude graduate of BS Physics of Ateneo de Manila University; Kiran Tina M. Vaswani, magna cum laude graduate of BS in Management Information System of Ateneo de Manila University; Anna Theresa L. Licaros, summa cum laude graduate of BA Broadcast Communication of the University of the Philippines; Butch O. Saulon, summa cum laude graduate of Bachelor in Secondary Education of the University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City; Kip F. Oebanda, graduate of AB Development Economics at San Beda College; Beauregard Grant Cheng, graduate of BS in Manufacturing Engineering Management of the De La Salle University; and Bryan Albert T. Lim, magna cum laude graduate of BS in Biology of the University of the Philippines in Cebu City.

The initial list of candidates for the prestigious scholarship award consisted of 235 nominees from 350 colleges and universities nationwide. The TOSP awardees were selected from the 30 finalists of the search for this year's outstanding students by a national board of judges.
