Medvil edges Davao United in Liga Dabaw

THE University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan and Medvil Football Club came through with big wins Sunday in the 2005 Liga Dabaw first division football tournament at the Tionko field.

USM Kabacan routed Solido-Hambusa, 5-2, while Medvil nipped Davao United, 5-4, in the Davao Football Association (DSA)-organized event.

Endy Lyn Estimo of USM-Kabacan sizzled with a hat trick. He scored in the 29th, 34th and 74th minutes, while Bonifacio Mangga had goals of his own in the ninth and 56th.

Jonard Flores hit in the 35th as teammate Rene Valdesco scored in the 54th for Solido-Hambusa.

In the main match, Learyf Karamiy scored in the 11th for Davao United's first goal but Ramonito Carreon countered in the 26th followed up by Francisco Villano's goal in the 31st and Manuel Aspellaga's goal in the 49th for a 3-1 Medvil lead.

Davao United's Sherwin Baylosis knocked in a goal in the 51st to come close, 2-3, yet Medvil veteran Herson Salmon kicked two back-to-back goals in the 52nd and 60th for a 5-2 advantage.

Christian Hager (71st) and Baylosis (51st) added two goals for Davao United.

USM-Kabacan leads the team standings with two wins and one draw while Medvil is in second with one win, one draw and one loss.

Solido-Hambusa is in third place with 1-1-1 record, 1-0-2 Davao United in fourth, 1-1-0 Hooligans fifth, 1-0-1 Columbia-Ebocci sixth and 0-1-2 Davao Under-19 seventh.

In division 1, Real El Solido grabbed its second straight win after beating Lumad Nuevo, 2-1, while Ateneo crushed Davao Ladies, 5-1, and Agro Industrial Foundation College (AIFC) downed Davao, U-17 4-1.
