Good food, good company
By Marissa S. Te Eng Fo

MARCO Polo Hotel general manager Stanley Lao was very pleased with the outcome of Marco Polo newly renovated ballroom. A cocktail party with the theme Coco Loco, showcasing the islands inspired by the Caribbeans and our Island Garden City of Samal was held to celebrate the event.

The hotel spent mega dollars to make this beautiful property more beautiful by changing carpets, panels and interior decors. The whole project took approximately six unnoticeable months.

Food and food galore, my fave topic. Ron Yulo, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager gladly gave me the information about the yummy food prepared by Chef Tuazon and his culinary crew.

I came in quite early to get my eyes feast on the arrangement meticulously done by the flower experts (Puentespina's). As I walked up the staircase in my off-shoulder sarong and pajama pants which I bought in a tiangge-like store in Malaysia, matching NY summer hat and sapatilla, I was greeted by Art Boncato, sales and marketing director and Davao tourism association president. I ogled around and admired the trees and the kayaks. The culinary team hurriedly set up in pure expertise the canap‚s on several buffet tables.

The cold and hot canap‚s were well selected inspired by the east and west cuisine. Nori rolls just melted in my mouth with a hint of the marriage of smoked salmon, mango and avocado while the Peking Duck in puff pastry absolutely gave me the filler satisfaction.

To awaken those taste buds, I liked the Tandoon baked prawns but the Camembert cheese on dill bread does it for me with a munch on the sun dried tomato with gazpacho salsa.

The carving station of prime ribs, rib eye with the roast pig on another station were all a hit. I particularly loved the veal sausage and bratwurst.

Talk about global feasts, Marco Polo has it all! By the way, Marco Polo is the only hotel I know that has a Halal kitchen.

Seen were friends in the media Joji Alcantara, Rhonson Ng, Josie San Pedro, Tina Junsay, the Marco Polo team, business sector, travel and trade, good looking Dr. Bobot Pinggoy of Wind and Wave (and ladies I heard that he is still single! I could be wrong though but I am correct in the good looking part), PR agencies, Boy Guino-o who won best clad male with friend Dr. Gary Sicam, beauty Jackie Garcia-Dizon with hubby Sonny, Baby Robillo, Councilor Susabel Reta, friends from Pearl Farm, and many, many more.

To you lovelies: Have a great day!!! Till next.
