Hiyas sa Kadayawan, Urog finals tonight

AFTER a successful fashion presentation of the candidates of the Hiyas sa Kadayawan last Sunday, the ladies will finally vie for the top titles "Hiyas sa Lumadnong Kagikan," "Hiyas sa Kapaninguhaan," and the much coveted "Hiyas sa Kadayawan" at 7 p.m. tonight at SM City Davao Entertainment Plaza.

Competing for the titles are Susannah Jo Buenaflor (Davao City), Sharina Deriza (Zamboanga del Sur), Dyna Dizon (Bansalan, Davao del Sur), Maricar Durias (Surallah, South Cotabato), Maria Natalia Garcia (Davao City), Maria Rea Lane Horfilla (Davao City), Maria Donnesa Neri (Davao City), Jessle Cristilyn Morales (Baganga, Davao Oriental), Lun Charisse Lim Revilla (Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur), Shlwyn Khier Ponce (Davao City), Cheerie Las Peñas (Davao City), and Chyryl Daclison (Digos City).

Meanwhile, the Urog Etnika finalists will also vie for the top prizes in this year's competitions. Fashion designers competing in Urog Etnika include Don Mascarinas of Lle Donn's Couture, Tzardy Tombo of Joy Bernaldez Exclusives, Jhay Ar Magdaleno of Mare Fashion Gallery & Chinggay's House of Fashion, Pei Tiambeng of Racquel's Apparel, Windel Mira of La Bamba Davao, Mark Magallanes of Chardin House of Fashion, Claire Carbaquil and Yoj Flores of Gabriela's, Dan Mendoza of Chardin House of Fashion, Joey Sendico (Butuan City), and Benjie Uy (General Santos City).

Urog Etnika is a showcase of ingenuity, creativity and artistry of Mindanao-based fashion and floral artists.

Locally woven fabrics, fibers and accessories, and other materials endemic to Mindanao will be utilized in making the creations.

The winning Hiyas sa Kadayawan, the festival symbol with Mindanaoan appeal and spokesperson of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw, will promote Davao City and Mindanao, its products and industries particularly tourism, fashion and floriculture.

She will also be attending all the remaining events of this year's festival.

Prizes for the winners are: P50,000.00--Hiyas sa Kadayawan; P40,000.00--Hiyas sa Lumadnong Kagikan; P30,000.00--Hiyas sa Kapaninguhaan; P10,000.00 for the two-runners up; and P5,000.00 each for the seven non-winning finalists; P2,000.00--Hiyas sa Kadayawan talent scout; P1,000.00--Hiyas sa Lumadnong Kagikan talent scout; P1,000.00--Hiyas sa Kapaninguhaan talent scout.
