'Indak-Indak' heats up Kadayawan celebration today

DAVAO City's major streets will be filled with the spirit of thanksgiving as people gather to witness and participate in the much-awaited street dancing Saturday.

"Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan" is the people's celebration through street dancing and merriment to the beats of tribal music.

This year, 31 participants from different schools and art companies all over Mindanao are set to best each other with their unique presentations of their respective interpretations of the theme "Subay-sulay sa Buhing Kabilin."

Dabawenyos can expect well-crafted performances from Assumption Academy of Pena Plata, Los Amigos National High School, Purok Sison Performing Art Group, City of Malaybalay, Tribong B'laan of Colongulo, Sa Tabok Bucana Elementary School Cultural Dance Group, Teatro Mabalian, Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Central Elementary School, Municipality of San Isidro, Talomo Central Dance Troupe, Maryknoll High School of Sigaboy, Tribo Kalagans-Bonok-Bonok Festival, UMPC Contingent, Maragusan Compostella Valley, San Juan Elementary School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School, SIR Elementary School, Barayong Magsaysay Davao del Sur, Central Dance Troupe of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, Magpet, Cotabato, Magallanes Elementary School, Sitio Malambo-on Elementary School, Buru-un, Iligan City, Maguindanaon Elementary Cultural Troupe, Surallah, South Cotabato, Brgy. Moncado Babak, Samal, Digos City, Lanuza Surigao del Sur, Malita, Davao del Sur, and Asuncion Davao del Norte.

Outstanding performances will receive P500,000 (1st prize), P300,000 (2nd prize), P150,000 (3rd prize), P75,000 (4th prize), and P50,000 (5th prize).
