'Wow Davao' to boost Davao tourism: Garcia
THE staging of "Wow Davao" in Intramuros, Manila for 20 days is expected to boost the tourism industry of the Davao Region, the Department of Tourism (DOT) 11 said.
DOT 11 Regional Director Sonia Garcia said the 20-day event, which will run from September 15 until October 4, will showase the best features of the region, from the festivals down to its products.
On the first day, Garcia said, the opeing salvo of the region will be the Kadayawan Festival, being the festival of all festivals in the region.
Garcia urged all the provinces of Region 11 to participate in the event since the venue is for free.
"This is an opportunity for them to showcase the best of their respective provinces. The venue is for free. All they have to do is think for whatever it is that they want to highlight. Sa shipping naman, the DOT is shouldering it," she said.
From "island to highland" destinations of the region will all be highlighted during the tourism event.
"We are also bringing the Maharlika Dance Troupe to give more color and meaning to our presentation. May fruit display din tayo doon," she said.
Garcia is optimistic that through Wow Davao, more people from Manila will realize how magnificent Davao is as a tourist destination. (JMM)
