City Hall to implement more cash saving moves
WITH the continued oil price increases and the threat of a global oil crisis in the offing, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte is set to issue an executive order that will provide additional measures to cushion the impact of the rising world oil price.
City Administrator Wendel Avisado said they are now crafting the executive order that would supplement the earlier order calling for the implementation of austerity measures in all City Hall departments.
But Avisado did not specify measures they might take other than reducing their power and fuel consumption.
He admitted that despite austerity measures that would be implemented, it would not have any major impact on their expenses, considering the continuing increase in the prices of fuel and electricity.
"Kaya wala din masyadong savings dun sa budget natin kasi tumataas din yung presyo eh," Avisado said.
It was learned that in next year's budget, the city ordered all departments to specify in their proposals their allocation for gasoline so as not to affect budget for the other projects of the government.
On the implementation of a four-day workweek, Avisado said their decision would depend on the policy of the National Government.
Personally, Avisado said, he would favor a four-day workweek since it would mean savings for the employees and the government as well. (BOT)
