Tax code review bodies organized
By Aurea A. Gerundio

THE executive and legislative departments have created two five-man committees for the review of the proposed Local Revenue Code, Davao City Bonifacio E. Militar said Monday.

"We will list down those items that the executive department did not recommend for taxation. We will decide whether we need to include it or delete it," Militar said, adding that more than 50 items in the proposed new tax code were not recommended by the executive department.

The members of the committee of the executive department are City Administrator Wendel E. Avisado, City Planning and Development Office chief Mario Luis J. Jacinto, City Treasurer Rodrigo S. Riola, City Accountant Rizalina N. Justol and City Legal Officer Melchor V. Quitain while legislative committee members are Vice Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan, Councilors Militar, Emmanuel D. Galicia Sr., Jesus A. Zozobrado Jr. and Ma. Belen Sunga-Acosta.

Militar said the members of the committee from the legislative department were approved by the new majority of the City Council.

He said the committee from the executive department will meet with the committee from the legislative department on Wednesday to review the proposed new tax code.

Militar anticipates the completion of the new tax code in two months.
