With Kadayawan over, City Council bickering looms
WITH the Kadayawan Festival done with and majority of the visitors having already left, today's session at the City Council is expected to be chaotic once more, that is if the one-week break in bickering has not cooled off the word war among council members.
But, if Councilor Bonifacio E. Militar, who now belongs to the new majority bloc, had his way, he prefers an end to the word war.
"We can't be effective leaders if rift continues among us. We can only work objectively if we work together collectively," Militar said.
The bickering and mudslinging in the council stopped last week after City Councilor Emmanuel D. Galicia Sr. voiced out his concern that such a sight is not good for the image of the city, considering that it was the height of the Kadayawan Festival and thousands of visitors were in town.
Before that, Councilor Diosdado A. Mahipus Sr. vowed he intends to expose more anomalies by council members. But he did not do so last week because of the Kadayawan.
Galicia said it is better that an independent investigating body will probe anomalies wherein some SP members are allegedly involved. (AAG)
