Football matches up at Tiongko
MATCHES in the Kadayawan Football Festival and Predator Cup will be held today at the Tionko field.
Teams entered will compete for honors in the eight-years-old and under mixed, 10-under mixed, boys 12-under, 14-under, elementary girls, high school boys and girls and ladies open divisions.
The 12-under age brackets form part of the grassroots development program -- Kasibulan 6-12 -- of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
It was launched in Davao City in 1999 with instructors Atty. Guillermo Iroy who is at present the PSC executive director, Erwin Protacio of University of the Philippines Mindanao and Danny Boy Fernandez of the Holy Child School of Davao College.
The Kasibulan program covers the school districts of Buhangin. Sta. Ana, San Roque, Davao Central, Matina, Talomo, Piedad, Daliaon, Binugao, Tugbok, Calinan, Baguio, Gen. Roxas and Marilog.
But Kibalang, Calinan, Baguio, Mandug and Toril may also compete in all categories.
The Camp Phillips (Bukidnon), Central Mindanao University (Musuan, Bukidon), Xavier University (Cagayan de Oro City), Cotabato City and Maguindanao teams are also seeing action in the two-day event hosted by the Davao Football Association. (MLS)
