Davao SMEs urged to avail of solon's Propel project By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza
DAVAO Region-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will further their growth as Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan's newest SME development project jumpstarts this year.
Mindanao Business Council (MBC) chair Antonio Santos said that a total of P20 million will be slashed by Pangilinan from his development fund for a joint project with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), dubbed as Promoting Regional Opportunities for Enterprise and Livelihood Development (Propel Development) program.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will likewise take part in the implementation of the project.
Local chambers of commerce and industry (LCCIs) in the 20 identified pilot areas throughout the country are eligible for funding under this program.
In Mindanao, among the recognized beneficiaries are Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, South Cotabato, and Tawi-Tawi.
Santos, who also sits as PCCI vice president for Mindanao, is encouraging all LCCIs to immediately pass their proposals to the Propel Development secretariat in Manila.
"They should grab this opportunity kasi pagkakataon na 'to ng mga local chambers na matulungan pa lalo ang mga SMEs sa kani-kanilang lugar," he said.
