Policemen arrest drunk traffic aide
A DRUNK traffic enforcer, who tried to bully his way through a police checkpoint in Agdao last Monday evening, ended up spending the night in jail instead.
Danilo Batuto, 33, married, a resident of Sanasa in Barangay 76-A and assigned as traffic enforcer of the Traffic Management Center in Sandawa Boulevard, Matina, was riding his Honda TMX 155 along Leon Garcia Street in Agdao, where a checkpoint was set up by the Sta. Ana Police.
"His motorcycle was swerving because he was drunk. We even had him undergo a liquor test," Police Inspector Noni Doyo of the Sta. Ana police said.
Batuto would have been allowed to go after he presented his motorcycle's registration papers and his driver's license had he not spoken out against the police.
"He said we're just even. What does he mean? He was threatening us," Doyo said.
Batuto, on Tuesday morning, admitted he was wrong in haranguing the policemen.
"I know I was wrong. But all I meant was that in Sandawa I'm the one whom usually apprehends motorists and that night I was the one apprehended," Batuto said.
But Doyo said they do not intend to file charges against Batuto, they're just teaching him a lesson.
"It's sometimes good to let them learn the hard way," Doyo said. (RCO)
