Army shines anew
THE Philippine Army 11th FSSU collected six gold medals, five silvers and two bronzes to emerge over-all champion in the 2005 All-Women Taekwondo Championships at the SM City Davao recently.
The University of Mindanao placed second with three gold medals while the Davao Taekwondo Center came third after hauling two golds, one silver and four bronzes.
DTC was bannered by Beefit Taekwondo Center, JT Taekwondo & Fitness Center and Pingoy Taekwondo Center jins.
The Rising Dragon took one gold and two silvers for fourth place in the one-day event sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association.
Sean Dee Lacay of PA 11 won the gold in girls 2 event over Andrea Amazona of Holiday Spa and Samer Ann Sumalinog of Ateneo Tigers.
The girls 3 gold went to PPA bet Crisly Shane Ordaneza while Rising Dragon's Mary Celestial Aquino pocketed the girls 4 gold.
Eagle Claws' Julie Saladaga topped the mid-junior finweight while PA's Sheeneryl Lacay ruled the flyweight/bantamweight event.
PA jin Nikkie Julian dominated the feather-welterweight class as PA's Madelyn Tagab won the junior women finweight gold and DTC's Jealan Paniamba-an stamped her class in feather-lightweight.
Cherry Mae Balingit captured the welter-light middleweight gold over Monalisa dela Rosa and Jeralyn Amaquin.
In senior women, the champions were finweight Ryza Caritativo of UM, fly-bantamweight Remy Ann Dapin, feather-light Janessa Pilar, light-welterweight Sta. Maria Florita. (MLS)
