Kapalong forms business chamber
KAPALONG from Kapalong, Davao del Norte took the final steps in uniting the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs by organizing the Kapalong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation.
"For our municipality to have progress in business, businessmen needs to unite," Kapalong Mayor Dominador P. Cruda said during the oath taking ceremony of selected officials in time for the inaugural thanksgiving program of the Davao del Norte Circumferential Road at the Pag-asa Farms in Kapalong on August 18.
Cruda appointed Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Smed) council vice chairman Severino P. Mercado as the chairperson of the local chamber. Also elected boardmembers were Leonardo Floresta, vice chairman, Julieta Ariete as secretary, Dra. Evelyn F. Magno as treasurer, Emgr. Ladalio Dorinio, Jr. as auditor, Rowel Selim as PRO and Jenne Dagaang as business manager.
Serving as advisers for the chamber are Cruda and SB member Larry Caminero.
"The progress of Kapalong is a teamwork in good faith of the business sector for the many and not to one businessman only. I appreciate the effort of mayor Cruda to institutionalize the business sector for us to be heard as one voice," Mercado said.
The Kapalong chamber is now finalizing its policies for membership and constitution and by-laws for registration at the Securities and Exchange Commission. (RCB)
