Anti, not admin killed impeach case: solon

DAVAO City Representative Propero Nograles said it was actually the opposition who gave the final blow to the impeachment complaint against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and not the administration congressmen.

Nograles said after the opposition bloc staged a walkout during Tuesday's hearing by the House justice committee on the impeachment complaint.

In a telephone interview, Nograles said the opposition actually killed the impeachment charges after they failed to reach the required number of signatures for it to be immediately forwarded to the Senate for trial.

"It's the other way around. The administration can't kill the impeachment. It's really the opposition who will kill their own impeachment if they do not have the 79. It's muerto natural (natural death). Administration congressmen need not do anything positive to kill the impeachment. Their (opposition) dying ambition to bring down GMA at all cost is in issue here," Nograles said.

During the walk out, Nograles said it is the usual tantrum of those who have failed to get what they want to impose on the majority.

"Opposition have walked out on us before like when we passed the tax measures. It's a way of trying to get sympathy when they can't get the votes," Nograles said. (BOT)
