Vice mayor refuses to take up word war v. minority anew
DAVAO City Vice Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan on Tuesday refused to comment further on charges of graft and corruption leveled on him by the minority bloc and on the statement of the administrative staff and secretariat of the City Council defending him against allegations that he demanded money from councilors for the beautification project and other matters.
Bonguyan said he will no longer comment on various allegations thrown at him by some councilors as he was advised by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte to shut up.
But he insisted that all accusations against him were false.
"I respect the mayor's advice that I cease from reacting to all their allegations," Bonguyan said in the vernacular.
The vice mayor said bickering in the City Council will never do good for the people of Davao City.
Earlier reports showed the staff including City Council secretary Lolita C. Garcia, supervising administrative officer Elsa R. Baluran, local legislative staff officers Ermelinda L. Furog and Priscilla B. Galemba and administrative officer Gina F. Acosta clarified three controversial issues that were made part of the accusations against the vice mayor.
These issues include the beautification project at the SP building, the proposed Cafeteria and the catering during the council's regular session, which is handled by Bonguyan's relative.
The staff said the vice mayor "has no hand" in all these businesses. (AAG)
