142 infra projects in Davao Norte done
AT LEAST 33 percent of the total infrastructure projects in the province of Davao del Norte for this year had been completed based on the records of the Provincial Engineer's Office.
In last week's Kapihan sa Kapitolyo in Tagum City, provincial engineer Josie Jean Rabanos said the province has lined up a total of 422 projects and only 142 of these are completed as of July.
"Our on-going projects includes drainage systems, rehabilitation of highways and roads, farm-to-market roads, government buildings, and others," Rabanos said.
She added that there are still 276 ongoing projects in the province.
Rabanos said that the bulk of these infrastructure projects are in Tagum City, costing more than P20 million while the rest are distributed in other areas in the province.
She said the total cost of the projects is P77,900,155. Of this amount, Rabanos said P197,654.99 is from the province while the remaining P77,702,500 is funded by the National Government.
Rabanos said that in constructing farm-to-market roads, the province gauges the potential production area of a place.
"We look at the potential products of a particular area first before putting a place in the priority list for constructing farm-to-market roads," she said.
She added that of all these projects, only seven went to the Department of Public Works and Highways while the rest were bid to private sectors. (RCB)
