Evangelist pledges support for Mt. Apo clean up drive
INTERNATIONAL televangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Thursday pledged to help in the Mt. Apo cleanup drive spearheaded by the Provincial Government of North Cotabato next month.
In his visit during the North Cotabato's 91st founding anniversary Thursday, Quiboloy said he will provide 200 volunteers from his Sunshine Philippines Movement (SPM) to help in cleaning Mt. Apo.
Quiboloy said aside from the volunteers, they would also find ways on how to maintain cleanliness in Mt. Apo year round. He said he would provide volunteers to monitor cleanliness in the country's highest peak.
Governor Emmanuel Piñol thanked Quiboloy for his support saying he will also field 200 more volunteers aside from that of Quiboloy's.
Piñol said they would conduct the weeklong clean-up drive this October. He even invited Vice President Noli de Castro and his family to Mt. Apo.
De Castro also attended Thursday's founding anniversary of North Cotabato. He said he had long wanted to climb Mt. Apo but had never done it. He would love to help in the clen up drive if his schedule would permit.
Piñol said Mt. Apo needs a lot of cleaning especially on the Davao side due to the litters and graffiti many undisciplined climbers leave along their trail. (BOT)
