PAL Inter-sports opens in Iloilo
THE Bomberos de Davao Athletic Club expects a rough sailing in the 2005 PAL Inter-Sports slated in Iloilo City next week.
Bomberos president Neil Dalumpines said defending champion General Santos is still the team to reckon with.
"We are aiming to land in the second or third spot," Dalumpinese said.
General Santos took the over-all championship last year with big wins in basketball and golf.
"But we are ready to compete. Our team will have between 60 to 70 players seeing action in six events," Dalumpines told members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum Thursday at the Tower Inn.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) executive vice-president for Mindanao Dominador Duerme added the sportsfest also features bowling, billiards, badminton and tennis.
"A lot of attractive prizes await the winners. We will also raffle international and domestic round trip tickets," Duerme said.
Dalumpines said there will be round trip tickets from Manila to Las Vegas, Manila-Saigon, Manila-Bangkok and Manila-Singapore at stake, among others.
Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Manila, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga clubs are also entered in the meet along with teams from Australia and the United States. (MLS)
