Coffee lovers' haven By Jojie Alcantara Witerary
BACK in 1995, when coffee shops in Cebu were hardly known at all and when such a business concept was new in the Visayas and Mindanao region, Coffee Dream was developed by Glenn Anthony O. Soco (owner/president).
In 1996, Coffee Dream opened its first outlet at the 4th level of Ayala Center in Cebu City. Three more outlets followed. In 2000, it opened its business to franchising. Since then, it has expanded its franchise to the Mindanao area. By aggressively expanding operations nationwide, Coffee Dream Co., Inc., with 11 company-owned outlets and six franchise outlets to date, became a highly respected, fast-growing chain of gourmet coffee shops serving home grown coffee at affordable prices.
The Coffee Dream grand opening at the Damosa-Gateway last August 13 kicked off with a festive balloon-pulling ceremony participated by Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian, Bea Gonzales, Lillian Abella, Luisito Rabat and Jason Magnaye. Kudos to owner Rochelle Rabat del Rosario, who meticulously planned this mix to show that Coffee Dream is a Coffee Shop for everyone.
While Leandro's prepared a sumptuous spread of cocktail food for the guests, delicious cakes and pastries were provided by Tanya R. Tan of All About Cakes. Guests were also treated to free-flowing coffee in various flavors - plain brewed, cappuccino, hot or cold coffee drinks to the chilled blends.
Among the important personalities seen were Secretary Rodolfo del Rosario and wife Inday, House Representative Tonyboy Floirendo with wife Margie, Abdul and Linda Aquino, Dennis Uy and wife Cherry, Maricris Brias with friends from Manila Karen Santos and Tess Pasola, Vincent and Mia Floirendo with friends also from Manila, Pat Montemayor, Anton & Dawn Lagdameo with her mom Cleo Salman, Anthony Audley, Ian d'Arcy, Nancy & Jeremy Wall, Maita & Edgar Ang, Baby and Binggoy Montemayor, Quitoy Lorenzo, Sonja Garcia, Anthony Sasin, Cristina & Ricky Diola, Doris & Rico Villareal, GJ & Gerry Romero Salas, Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian, Monch Cruz and Rene Banzon, to name a few.
Other media personalities also attended the event. The country's premier violinist, Jay Cayuca with Abba on bass and Livia on the keyboards provided musical performance, including Mars Miranda, one of Manila's favorite DJ, and a regular of the hippest club in Manila, D'Embassy at the Fort. Hosting the program was Peachy Villar Garcia.
Despite heavy rains, guests filled the bar and the outdoor garden tent set-up. Party and events coordinator Candice Respicio of Behind the Seen Company was one busy young woman indeed. Sponsors for the night's affair were Rep. Floirendo San Miguel Beer, Damosa-Gateway, Premier Wines & Spirits, All About Cakes, and Nenita Farms.
