Fisherman accused of attacking 2 boys

POLICE are tracking down a fisherman accused of hacking and wounding two men at Isla Verde along Quezon Boulevard, Davao City, at past midnight Sunday.

The victims were identified as Richie (name withheld for being a minor), 17, and his friend, Lerey Aguilar, 19, both residents of Isla Verde, this city.

The two named Jeter Nuñez, 30, also a resident of Isla Verde, as the one who attacked them.

The two youths were drinking with two other teeners identified as Robert, 16, and one Johnrey, 17, near the latter's house when Jeter and his brother, Junadab, 35, arrived looking for their brother (name not identified).

Richie claimed that Jeter, without provocation, picked up an empty bottle of beer and hit him in the head.

Richie said he ran away but was chased by Jeter with a bolo.

He was hacked in the lower part of his left thigh, he said.

Lerey tried to grab Jeter's bolo but was stoned by the suspect.

The victims later reported the incident to the Sta. Ana police precinct after being treated at the Davao Medical Center (DMC).

The young men insisted they did not do anything to start the fight.

Police are conducting further investigation. (JGR)
