Another RP pug climbs the ring
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

RANDY Suico of the Philippines steps into the ring on September 23 against Javier Jauregui of Mexico, hoping for a victory and sustaining the fiery run of Filipino boxers abroad.

Suico, a hard-hitting puncher from Cebu, faces Jauregui in a 10-round lightweight battle at the USC's Lyon Center in Los Angeles, California.

According to Fightnews.com, Suico and Jauregui are known fighters who refuse to take a backwards step in the ring.

Both will be fighting under a Golden Boy Promotions entitled "Solo Boxeo".

The card also features the junior welterweight fight between Norberto Bravo and Ben Tackie.

Suico, 25, holds a record of 23-1 with 20 KOs, while the veteran Jauregui has a 49-12-2 with 34 KOs slate.

Suico, after dropping a controversial decision to Mzonke Fana, has won his last two fights and is expected to give his opponent a run for his money.

Jauregui of Guadalajara, Mexico is regarded as one of boxing's blue collar warriors. The 17-year veteran is eyeing to conquer the 135-pound division.

Just days ago, Manny Pacquiao, Brian Viloria and Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista stopped their respective opponents in Los Angeles to give the country a glorious moment in the boxing stage.

Pacquiao scored a 6th-round TKO win over Hector Velazquez in a super featherweight clash, while Viloria stopped Eric Ortiz in the first round to win the World Boxing Council mini flyweight crown.

Bautista also pulled off a stunning victory when he knocked out Felix Flores in the third round of their bantamweight encounter.
