Davao eyes four golds By Marianne L. Saberon
A SEVEN-member Davao City team is all set to do battle in the 2005 National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Head coach Jun-Jun Te earlier said he hopes to win three to four gold medals in the two-day tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association.
But Te, in recent interviews, said: "It will be a very tough competition for our players since most, if not all, national tae kwon do members are also expected to compete as part of their training for the coming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games."
Te said featherweight Janessa Pilar and finweight Ivy Lim would play in the senior women division while Jasper Ngo will see action in the senior men finweight event.
Flyweight Marvin Te and featherweight Jason Ngo will strut their stuff in the junior men category even as bantamweight Natalie Maramba and featherweight Bienvenido Karlu Cariaga are entered in the mid-junior women and men's events.
The Davao City team, supported by Master Hyoung Joo Kim, is bannered by mainstays of the JT Taekwondo & Fitness Center, Beefit Taekwondo Center and Pingoy Taekwondo Center.
Medals are up for grabs in the meet.
