8 more Cotabato villages get PNOC electrification funding
THE Philippine National Oil Corporation Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC) revealed in a letter to North Cotabato Governor Manny Piñol Wednesday that eight more barangays in North Cotabato municipalities were included for funding under the expanded rural electrification project.
The list includes Sitio Papandayon in Bonglanon and Barangay Don Panaca in Magpet; Puroks 2 and 4 in Pulang Lupa, Purok Riverside in Bagontapay, Purok 3 in Nueva Vida, Puroks 2, 4 and 6 in Pag-Asa and Purok 7 in Lepaga, all in Mlang; and Barangay Malibatuan in Arakan.
The barangays were recommended by the governor to be included in the PNOC-EDC electrification program as part of his commitment to have all barangays in the province energized before the end of his term in 2007.
So far, 304 or 86 percent of the 350 barangays of the province have already been energized under the provincial government's Task Force Kuryente.
A total of P9.4 million in royalty shares of the province from the PNOC Geothermal Project was used to fund various electrification projects in the province last year. (BOT with PR)
