THE United Muslim Council for Peace and Development (UMCPD) will celebrate its 1st anniversary at the Grand Men Seng Hotel Thursday.

The council aims to foster closer relationship among Moro residents of the city, the military and the government in order to promote an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in Muslim-dominated communities; develop and attain unity among Muslim leaders, and establish a venue for closer coordination among five Muslim tribes in Davao City; and better understand the Muslim culture and tradition, and to prevent misunderstanding between the Muslim and non-Muslims.

In a statement, del Rosario said they also want the council to help neutralize the possible base and contacts of Jemaah Islamiyah in Davao City.

Expected to attend in the celebration is Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who is very much supportive of this organization. (BOT with PR)
