Raps filed vs man caught with 'uzis'
CHARGES for illegal possession of firearms have already been recommended for filing in the court against the man who was caught trying to sneak in three homemade submachine guns past a checkpoint in Panacan, Davao City.
Prosecutor II Retrina Fuentes recommended the filing of charges against one Thong Dalgan Calipa, 26, native of Datu Palgas in Maguindanao, and a resident of Sto. Niño, Barangay Dos in Koronadal City.
Calipa was caught not just with the three homemade Uzi cal. 9mm with serial numbers 125175, 165856, and 5328C.
Also confiscated from Calipa were one piece magazine assembly for an Uzi, a steel pipe, an iron bar magazine molder for an Uzi, a pair of pliers and five pieces drill bits.
The 2nd company of the 11th Regional Mobile Group (RMG) led by Senior Inspector Ireneo Dalogdog, the commanding officer, were manning the checkpoint at Km. 14 in Panacan at around 6:30 p.m. last September 27.
Calipa, on the other hand, was riding a Lawin-type passenger jeepney with plate number LVU-960 driven by one Rolito Maglacion to the Davao City downtown area.
It was during regular inspection by PO2 Lorito Panigon Jr. and PO2 Paul Salinas that the contraband was found in Calipa's bag.
Calipa is now detained at the RMG 11 Battalion headquarters in Camp Catitipan. (JGR)
