DMMA beats ADdU; AMA outguns UIC By Marianne L. Saberon
THE DMMA College of Southern Philippines beat Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Blue Knights, 84-77, in the resumption of the 3rd Gaisano South Cup basketball tournament at the GS SkyGym Thursday night.
DMMA's Gerby Abayon led scoring with 24 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds, had one steal one assist to emerge the game's best player.
DMMA improved to a 4-4 record while the Blue Knights staggered with 0-2 slate in college division 1 of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)-sanctioned cagefest.
Ramil Barral and Vicente Pedrera scored identical 13 points for DMMA. Alvin Ponteres added 11.
In another game, AMA took its first win at last after four losses at the expense of the University of the Immaculate Conception, 85-61.
The defeat dropped UIC to 0-4 in the same division. AMA player Jaypee Amera had 28 points to win the best player of the game honors.
Meanwhile, San Pedro College was set to play the University of Southeastern Philippines in a division 2 match-up Friday afternoon.
