2 who killed soldier charged with murder

A YOUNG man and his teen companion were charged with murder on accusation that they stabbed a retired soldier to death in Barangay Subasta, Calinan, Davao City sometime in June.

Assistant City Prosecutor Shahruddin Sencio Jr. recommended the filing of murder charges against Unicimo Alicasa, 20, resident of Purok 3, Barangay Subasta, Calinan, and one alias Ariel (name withheld for being a minor), 17, after probable cause was established to hold them for court trial.

In her affidavit-complaint, William Carcosia's wife, Lilia, 50, employed at the Tesda Wangan National Agricutural School, said the incident happened at around 7 p.m. as of June 3.

Lilia was attending to a Tesda-sponsored seminar at the Paradise Island Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal when she received a text message from her sister informing her that her husband was stabbed dead.

Meanwhile, William's brother-in-law named Ferdinand Aplicador executed an affidavit and said that on the same day at around 4 p.m., he had a drinking spree with William inside a videoke pub owned by a certain Melva, also of the same place.

But Ferdinand said he left William with the some neighbors who were also inside the pub and went home.

A resident in the area only informed Ferdinand that William was stabbed. He then brought William to the Isaac Robillo General Hospital in Calinan where the latter was declared dead.

The accused were inside the pub when they became entangled in a "misunderstanding" with the victim.

William became a barangay police of their place after he retired as a military.

No bail was recommended for the respondents, who remain at large as of press time. (JGR)
