Sarangani LGU getting more RP-born Indon kids enlisted

PHILIPPINE-born Indonesian children in Sarangani and General Santos are encouraged to register in Sarangani province to enjoy permanent residency, said Governor Miguel A. Dominguez during the Kapehan sa Dabaw press conference Monday.

"They are given permanent residency papers already and alien control certificate number. So they are actually staying as Indonesians, who has registered and are given permanent residency status. But this is only for children of Indonesians born in the Philippines," Dominguez said.

According to Dominguez, before the province of Sarangani and even the country was established, a lot of Indonesians have already migrated in Mindanao and have been entering the island through the backdoor.

With the continuous increase of their population, the provincial government has started registering Indonesians.

To date, there are around 1,500 registered Indonesians there.

Dominguez said it is only in being registered as a legal alien that the Indonesians can avail of government services.

"They must first be registered to avail of the free education in the province, especially in Glan. They must be registered to avail of free medical assistance in Saranggani," Dominguez said. (BRQ)
