Inter-agency body to man city watershed protection

AN INTER-agency body composed of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Planning and Development Office, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and other interested groups and settlers in Davao City would be the main enforcers of Executive Order (EO) 22 series of 2005.

EO 22 adopts the results of the terrain analysis and the recommendations of the MGB-11 for the identified watershed areas in Davao City and for other purposes.

"The mayor has already issued the executive order to support the findings of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, particularly on the matter of protecting the identified conservation area and the agro-forestry non-tillage areas which are the areas where the recharged water zones are located," City Administrator Wendel E. Avisado said.

Avisado said the inter-agency body as the primary enforcers of the executive order is really into protecting the watershed to ensure sustainability of the city's water resources in the future. (BRQ)
