Jersey Night By Nelson C. Bagaforo
LIQUID Bar at the Apo View Hotel held a one-of-a-kind gathering of sports buffs in Davao City with its "Jersey Night" last October 1.
The city's premiere and coolest bar was basically jampacked with Dabawenyos, mostly athletes, young professionals and college students, who came in their favorite jersey, who party until the wee hours of the morning.
It was also a victory party for Davao City-based soccer team Real El Solido FC, who ruled the Liga Dabaw Football Tournament, beating Team Korea in an exciting championship match at Tionko Football Field on Quimpo Boulevard on September 24.
The champ team came in full force led by their manager, soccer enthusiast Rachelle Arrieta, whose husband Buboy was the team's captain.
The huge Saturday night crowd turned rowdy, and the party became hotter, as statuesque and sexy models took on ramp, showcasing John Oropeza's almost 300 plus collection of football jerseys of various football teams all over the world.
San Miguel Beer, Oroderm, Real El Solido FC, and the Davao Football Association sponsored Jersey Night.
The party was indeed a tribute to the athletes who have continued to give honors to the city and just a convincing event to promote sports.
