Louie heads nation's 'ambassadors'
STILL unknown to many is the fact that there's such a thing as Ambassadors Club, an international organization of socio-civic leaders, which was founded in Germany some 50 years ago.
The group is similar to other international associations like Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis, except that it has not been aggressive in organizing chapters outside Europe.
Membership is by invitation. Members, although addressed "Ambassador" in the club, are usually professionals and leaders in their own right, not necessarily diplomats.
This year's national president is Davao City Vice Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan who was elected during the club's national gathering in Davao City.
Bonguyan took his oath of office as new national president during the Manila chapter meeting at the Manila Peninsula Hotel late last month.
His induction was witnessed by some Dabawenyo "ambassadors," including Joji Ilagan-Bian, Leoncio Villa-Abrille, this year's Davao chapter president, Jun Tapiador, past national president Rogelio Santos, Tony Ajero, Igacos Roger Antalan with publisher Ben Diansay as guest.
