3 'last two' ushers sued
THREE suspected "last two" collectors were charged for violating the Republic Act (RA) 9287 after they were caught by the members of the Anti-Vice Unit of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in the act of tallying said bets May this year.
Sued are Jocelyn Osin, of legal age, resident of Dacudao Avenue this city and one Delia Dalagan, of NHA, San Roque, Agdao, and Ernesto Gomez, of Cabaguio Avenue this city.
City Prosecutor Raul B. Bendigo approved the filing of charges against the respondents through the recommendation of Prosecutor II Victor Sepulveda.
PO2 Dandy Lapeña and PO2 Lidivin Balio, of the Anti-Vice Unit, said in their joint-affidavit said that together with PO3 Vincent Luga, PO2 Frances Maningo, PO1 Nelson Violan Jr., and Police Chief Inspector Rommil Mitra, they conducted surveillance in Agdao near the public market against all illegal activities on May 23 at around 5:30 p.m.
It was during their surveillance that they saw the respondents in the act of tallying, soliciting, and collecting money bets from bettors.
Police recovered several last two paraphernalia from the respondents including six tally sheets with numbers and bet amounts, seven pads of "last two" stubs, and P1,790 cash.
The respondents were later endorsed to the Anti-Vice Unit office. (JGR)
